Aaaaaaand we’re back!  After a short hiatus, the Beer Friends are back bringing you the best craft beer events that the bars of the world’s finest city have to offer – and we have some excellent beer adventures coming up this week.

Check em’ out:

Tuesday, January 17 – Dogfish Head Week @ Downtown Bar and Grill, Brooklyn:

Downtown Brooklyn’s premier bar, boasting by far the largest bottle list of any place in the 5 borough’s, will be hosting Dogfish Head this entire week, starting today.  They will feature 12 lines of your favorite Dogfish Head brews as well as some new releases on draft.  And for those of you who think 60 minutes is too short a time and 90 is too long, they’ll have the 75 Minute IPA on cask.

The Downtown Bar and Grill is located at 160 Court Street between Amity and Pacific Streets, Downtown, Brooklyn.

Wednesday, January 18 – Founders Breakfast of Champions @ Fourth Avenue Pub, Brooklyn:

In our continual efforts to walk that fine line between recognizing the immense craft beer world for their work and avoiding turning it into snobbery that in so many ways it’s already become, I have a bone to pick with the beer world.  Stop using acronyms when talking about beer.  Just like I cringe when I hear someone talk about wine using shortened titles like “cabs” and “pinot’s”, I feel equally annoyed when I hear someone talking about finding the “KBS” or the “CBS.”  Using a name that no one else around you knows of doesn’t make you more exclusive or better, it makes you douchier.  And it gives us in the craft beer world a bad reputation.  Beer snobs are as bad as wine snobs.

On that note, Founders Breakfast Stout, Kentucky Breakfast Stout and the Canadian Breakfast Stout are incredible brews and hard to find and definitely worth the effort to go out of your way to get one.  Well, look no further, the Fourth Avenue Pub in Park Slope has all three on draft this Wednesday.

Not only that, they’ll be pairing them with their favorite breakfast cereals.  You know – CC, LC, FL and GG.  Now, breakfast cereal snobs are completely okay.

The Fourth Avenue Pub is located at 76 4th Avenue between Bergen Street and St. Marks Place, Park Slope, Brooklyn.

Thursday, January 19 – Belgian Keg Night @ Bierkraft, Brooklyn:

When it comes to creativity, many American craft beer enthusiasts think that we pegged it here in the USA.  Belgium has been rocking that tune for quite a bit longer, however.  Bierkraft is recognizing the Belgian peoples fantastic cultural tradition of beer brewing with an impressive lineup:

Chimay Cinq Cents
T Gaverhopke Extra
Duvel Green
Saison Dupont
Alvinne Kerasus
Rodenbach
De Glazen Toren Saison d’Erpe Mere aged in Pinot Noir/Gin barrel

Bierkraft is located at 191 5th Avenue between Union and Berkeley Streets, Park Slope, Brooklyn.

Saturday, January 20 – Barleywine and Strong Ale Tasting @ Brouwerij Lane, Brooklyn:

Many people, when see barleywines on the menu, immediately begin searching for something else due to the strong taste and high alcohol content.  Well, it’s time to stop being a wimp and take the plunge with a 5 brew sampler that showcases the barleywine and strong ale traditions.  $18 will get you these rare, unique and delicious barleywines, old ales and strong ales:
